Photo of the Day

I love this picture! I am imagining myself in a lounge chair with a good book. Every time I take a break from reading, I look up at this tree.
Have a calm and wonderful day.

Hang In There.

With the state of the world in crisis, let’s all remember that this is temporary.

We can survive anything if we use common sense, be careful, and stay positive.

Thankfully anyone reading this can use the internet and has the ability to keep connected.  Staying home for a while doesn’t mean that you have to feel isolated from people that you care about.  Having said this, I do worry about the elders in our community who are not as computer literate.  If you have any older people that you care about, may I suggest that you call them and touch base a little more often?

Maybe you feel alone.  Immerse yourself in the things that you love. Feed your soul, play your favorite music, watch a good movie, or start a project that you’ve been putting off.  Stay positive.

I’m thinking of you all. Hang in there. It will get better!

Have Fun and LAUGH!

Here we are in the new year. We all made it. I have something fun to share with you.  If you need a really good laugh, please check out anything written by Simon Rich.  (no, I’m not being paid to post this)

I’m a huge fan of his and it’s impossible NOT to laugh out loud when you read his articles, short stories, and books.

You can also find him on youtube.  I promise you that you will escape your troubles for a while through the genius of this funny man.

MERRY CHRISTMAS!

A Christmas Wish
I want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas!

No matter who you are, no matter if you are alone or surrounded by family and friends, I am with you in spirit.
I am filled with Christmas cheer this year. That’s not always the case, so I am embracing it with every fiber of my being.

Making cookies, decorating the house, filling my house with good food and warm thoughts are my mission for the season!

I want to share this with you.  I’m sending you a mental mantra for the times when you are feeling down and lonely.
Just keep thinking… I’m not alone, I’m not alone. And you won’t be as long as someone is thinking of you. And I will be.

I will think of all of my friends who are struggling. All the people who need some help. All the people who touch my heart.

Merry, Merry Christmas to you all.

For me, crafting is a soothing activity. It’s something to take my mind off of the bothersome things happening in my life. Try to find your outlet. Maybe it’s crafting, taking a walk, reading or anything that makes you focus on something positive. Find the Merry!

Baby Steps

As cliched as it sounds, I want to talk a little about baby steps. At this moment, my life is a chain of baby steps. From waking up in the morning to going to bed at night, I need structure to be able to function. The more structure I create the better I am at handling things that I can’t control.

I find that preparing beforehand is the key to creating that structure.

Laying out my clothes the night before, making a list of things to do and making a list of the order in which to do them, is a tool that I use to be able to jump into action the next day without time to be fearful of what I need to accomplish.

My Selective Joy "Photo of the Day"

My Special Tree

This is a tree in my back yard that over the years, has been such a source of joyful inspiration to me.

Every year, birds have built their nests inside the hole, and I have watched the cycle of their lives unfold before my eyes. It makes me happy to look at this. It brings back fond memories.
